How does dog and cat reproduction work?
More specifically, why are there siblings in a litter that don’t look like each other? Why wouldn’t the sperm from one dog/cat penetrate all eggs?
Generally they come to heat once in about 6 munths and they release multiple eggs…
Some or all eggs will be fertilised on the same mating if not they are mated on te next mating…so it is possible for one litter to have 2 fathers…ie some pups like dog 1 and msome like dog 2.
most breeders are adviced to get the same bitch mated to the same male abt 2 to 3 locks…
In dogs there is a unique thing called lock…where the penis swells to a very gr8 extent and is stuck in side the vagina while the semen passes this in order not the waste the semen….coz of this lock a tube like connection is formed and all the semen is deposited at the cervix of the female…
Ideal time to mate a bitch is the 10,12 &13 day of heat…
